A cadastral map is a legal map that shows parcels, or lots, of land with survey information and indicating boundaries.
The process of which the map is drafted, finalized and approved is called a cadastral survey.
A Cadastre is a more comprehensive recording of real estate in a country.
It is the authority when it comes to clarifying land ownership and is used regularly in legal disputes regarding land ownership.
However, these statutory documents are known to be amended regularly to reflect changes.
When a property boundary survey is conducted by a practicing registered surveyor and find that amendments are required, the findings are submitted to the governing authority.
Once approved by a chief surveyor, the new map will be updated and recorded as public records.
